News - Exciting Equine Veterinary Position Available for a New or Recent Graduate
Tamworth Equine Veterinary Centre is seeking a new or recent graduate with a passion for horses, who wants to make their mark in Australia's most rapidly growing equine area. This is a long term position and is available immediately.
The practice has a very strong reproductive focus during the breeding season, including on-farm stud visits and in-house artificial insemination with both chilled and frozen semen and a large volume of embryo transfer work. Resident and visiting stallions are used for live cover, collection and shipment of chilled semen, and semen freezing. We have a state-of-the-art reproduction & freezing laboratory and are an SBS affiliate lab. Our mobile semen freezing Unit (the first of its kind in Australia) is due to be launched this Autumn. Besides the reproduction work, the centre also operates as a well equipped general & referral equine practice, servicing the medical and surgical needs of the local equine population. The practice has at its disposal ultrasonography, portable digital radiology systems, videoendoscopy, a full surgical suite with gaseous anaesthesia, videoarthroscopy and A grade Hospitalization facilities.
As a junior associate you will be expected to participate in all aspects of the practice, including inpatient care, anaesthesia, some reproductive work and emergency out of hours work. You have the freedom to work up your own cases, but you will also have access to the generous support of two very experienced equine veterinarians. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your skills as an equine clinician in a friendly, supportive and practical learning environment.
Tamworth is located at the heart of the Quarterhorse breeding industry, but the area attracts many other breeds including Thoroughbreds, Stockhorses, and Standardbreds, amongst a variety of other breeds. With the imminent completion of Australias largest equine show facility Tamworth is the place to be.
The practice itself is located approximately 2km from the central business district on 30 acres of alluvial river flats, with the facilities to assist over 100 horses. If you want to be part of this modern and exciting practice, please direct any enquiries about the position to Dr Stuart Keller senior veterinarian, or for a more informal chat please contact Dr Vicky Marshall. You can view more details about the practice on this website.

News - Exciting New Acquisition
The latest acquisition for the practice is the purchase of computerised digital radiography. This advanced technology allows for the on-site production of high resolution radiographs. Whilst a significant amount of the practice’s major radiographic work occurs in-clinic, the purchase of this equipment will allow us to offer a field service for Thoroughbred sale survey films. The digital enhancement of radiographs is of great advantage in elucidating obscure bone disorders and we expect this technology to be a big step forward in our diagnostic capabilities… read more
