Arthroscopy

Minimally Invasive Surgical Procedure

The practice has video arthroscopy instrumentation for minimally invasive joint surgery. Arthroscopic procedures can be performed either to evaluate or to treat many orthopaedic conditions in horses. Arthroscopy has accelerated recovery times and virtually eliminated the risk of joint sepsis and wound breakdown for joint procedures.

It has become a routine procedure to "clean up" joints with lesions in the performance horse, especially young thoroughbreds prior to sale and training. Arthroscopy is also a valuable tool for assisting in the treatment of infected joints and tendon sheaths.

Taking it a step further

We also have a range of accessory instrumentation including motorised shavers and burrs, enabling more advanced techniques to be used for specific problems such as meniscal tears and bone cysts.
